34C Bra Size: Measurements and Fit Explained

A 34C bra has a 34-inch band and a C cup: your bust measures about 3 inches more than your band, roughly 37 inches, with an underbust just over 32 up to 34 inches.

What does 34C mean?

34 is the band, measured around your ribcage under the bust. C is the cup, which stands for about a 3-inch difference between bust and band. A is 1 inch, B is 2, C is 3, D is 4.

A C cup is not a fixed size. A 34C cup holds more than a 30C cup and less than a 38C cup. That is why a friend in “a C cup” can look nothing like you in the same letter. The bra size chart shows how cups grow across bands.

Is 34C a big bra size?

No, a 34C is a mid-range size. The 34 band is near the middle of most ranges, which usually run from 30 or 32 up to 44 or 46. A C cup is three steps above AA. Wacoal and Victoria’s Secret both list ranges that run well beyond C, into I and O cups respectively.

You measure as 34C when your underbust rounds up to 34 and your bust is 3 inches more. Step by step:

1. Measure snugly around your ribcage right under the bust. Round up to the next even number. Just over 32 up to 34 inches gives a 34 band.
2. Measure the fullest part of your bust with the tape level and relaxed. Round to the nearest inch.
3. Subtract: 37 − 34 = 3 inches, a C cup.
