34DD Bra Size: Measurements, Sister Sizes and Fit

A 34DD bra has a 34-inch band and a DD cup: your bust is about 5 inches bigger than your band, roughly 39 inches, with an underbust just over 32 up to 34 inches.

What does 34DD mean?

34 is the band, your ribcage measurement under the bust rounded up to an even number. DD is the fifth cup step, about 5 inches between bust and band. It comes after D and before DDD (US) or E (UK).

34DD vs 34DDD vs 34E

This is where labels get confusing, so here’s the short version:

Victoria’s Secret, for example, labels its charts “DD (E)”. In UK sizing, E is a separate cup after DD. If a bra is labeled 34E, check whether the brand is using UK sizing before you order. Our bra size converter shows how each system labels the same cup.

What measurements give you a 34DD?

1. Measure snugly around your ribcage under your bust. Round up to the next even number. Just over 32 up to 34 inches gives a 34 band.
2. Measure around the fullest part of your bust, standing straight. Round to the nearest inch.
3. Subtract: 39 − 34 = 5 inches, a DD cup.

The sister sizes of 34DD are 32DDD (UK 32E) and 36D.

• 32DDD / UK 32E: same cups, tighter band. Try it if your 34DD band rides up.
• 36D: same cups, looser band. Try it if the band digs in on the loosest hook.

How should a 34DD fit?

• Band: firm and level, doing most of the lifting.
• Cups: full coverage of your tissue, no spilling at the top or sides.
• Wires: wide enough to sit behind your tissue under the arm.
• Center gore: flat against your breastbone. If it lifts away, try a bigger cup or a plunge shape.
• Straps: snug without grooves.

Where to find 34DD bras

General stores often carry 34DD in fewer styles than 34B or 34C. Brands built around fuller busts, such as Freya and Panache, make cups well past DD.
