Key takeaways

  • A US H cup means a bust about 8 inches bigger than the band. In UK sizing that cup is FF.
  • A UK H cup is 11 inches. US brands call it K.
  • H cups are well inside the ranges of brands that specialize in fuller busts.
  • At H, a firm band and seamed, side-supported cups make the biggest difference.

A US H cup means your bust measures about 8 inches more than your band. In UK sizing that cup is FF. A UK H cup is bigger again, about 11 inches, and US brands call it K.

US H vs UK H

US and UK cup letters split after DD, so H means different cups in each system:

9 inIGI

11 inKHK

Victoria’s Secret’s sister chart labels the US H “DDDDD (H)”, which shows how US brands reached it: by counting Ds. Curvy Kate’s US storefront converts the other way, with UK FF shown as US H. Use our bra size converter to check any size.

A 34H holds roughly the same as a 36G or 32I. Our G cup guide covers the cup below.

How do you know you’re an H cup?

  1. Measure snugly around your ribcage under the bust. Round up to the next even number.
  2. Measure the fullest part of your bust with a relaxed tape. Some retailers suggest leaning forward slightly to find the fullest point.
  3. Subtract band from bust. 8 inches is a US H (UK FF). 11 inches is a UK H (US K).

The guide to measuring your bra size covers each step.

What to look for in an H cup bra

H cups need a bra built for weight, not just a scaled-up small size:

  • A firm, deep band with three or more hooks. It should stay level all day.
  • Seamed cups (three-part or four-part) that lift and shape better than a single molded piece.
  • Side support panels that bring tissue forward from under the arm.
  • Wide or padded straps set close enough to stay on your shoulders.
  • Tall, wide wires that sit behind your tissue.

The University of Portsmouth’s breast health research group found that in one survey, 51.5% of 1,659 women had breast pain, and those women tended to have larger breasts. Good support matters, especially for exercise. See our guide to sports bras for large breasts.

How should an H cup bra fit?

  • The band is level and firm on the loosest hook.
  • No tissue spills over the top or sides, and nothing sits under the wire.
  • The center gore lies flat on your breastbone.
  • The straps don’t dig, even at the end of the day.

Use our bra fit checker if one of these isn’t right.
